- EXPAND
-
- EXPAND's purpose in life is to allow the sysop to EXPAND the size of
- his/her message file (CTDLMSG.SYS). This makes it easy to move increase
- the size which will reduce the scrolling of messages in rooms.
-
- EXPAND expects to the system to be in its normal setup. Simply call
- EXPAND without arguments. Once it has loaded CTDLTABL.SYS, it will
- display the current size of the message file, and then ask for the new
- size. Answer in Kbytes. Now EXPAND will do it's job. this may take a
- while since the file must be extended and messages may have to be updated
- Be patient. The program will display a progress indicator.
- Once the program is done, it will say so, and will also tell you that
- there is no reason to reconfigure. This is true.
-
- If you feel really insecure and must have a verify of the message base,
- then do the following:
- 1) Shut down Citadel.
- 2) Before running Expand, backup your CTDLCNFG.SYS, and CTDLMSG.SYS
- files. It is a good idea to do this anyway.
- 3) Type in the command: EXPAND and answer the questions about size.
- 4) Edit your CTDLCNFG.SYS file to represent the new size.
- 5) delete the ctdltabl.sys file
- 6) run CONFG with no parameters and answer N to the ERASE message.
- 7) Restart the BBS
- 8) Login and do a .RGF(READ-GLOBAL-FORWARD), If you have problems
- Citadel will give complaints (Opps, cannot find...). If you run
- into problems, you backed up your files so recovery is easy...
- I never ran into problems(and nobody reported any) so you should
- not need this proceedure, but it does give you warm fuzzies so
- here it is.
